More ways to connect

Hi all - just a quick note about our new Youtube channel, which has all our videos (some new premieres!) in one place... see it here.

Also, we have a page on the old Facebook now too.

We're in the midst of planning the next two Garden Parties at the moment, we'll let you know when we do.

GP#5 Simone White

Last Saturday, April 25th we shot the fifth installment of our series with Simone White in Venice, California. She lives there too, so she rode up on her bike for soundcheck and filled the courtyard with her crystal clear voice singing mostly sad songs, a few love songs and the odd happy tune about honking horns.

Wayne's really happy with the way the cameras rolled and Jeff's pretty sure this will be one of the better sounding Garden Partys. We had a fantastic time and were able to relax and let the show just kind of float up into the breezy evening air. Thanks again to Hillary and Elliot for the space. And deep gratitude to our crew: Patrick, Travis, Jay, Carson, Mali, Sergio and Kara. We're hoping to premiere it in a few weeks time on May 18 or so... if you twitter, follow us and we'll let you know the instant it hits.

A Little Catching Up

Before firing up this blog we shot four installments of The Garden Party, featuring our friends and acquaintances in LA and beyond. GP#1 stars Francisco the Man, who introduced us to the wonders of the toy piano. GP#2 was Red Cortez, previously known as The Weather Underground, and recently opening shows for Morrissey. GP#3 features a fantastic duo of singer-songwriters called Catherine Feeney and The Challenge of Feral Green, which led to another collaboration between us and them (more on that on a future post). And GP#4 is all about local LA drone-fiends EXITMUSIC. All those videos and interviews are up at our website thegardenpartyseries.com.

Welcome to The Garden Party

This is the blog for The Garden Party, which is a web-based music series where bands and solo artists play an intimate acoustic set in front of a small audience. We're based in California which allows us to film the sets outdoors at night, hence the name 'The Garden Party'.

As of April '09 we've shot five sets, with two or three more on the books for the coming months. You'll hear about them first here.

And just like restaurants and hotels have a 'soft opening', The Garden Party had one too. Immigrants & Navigators filmed the first Garden Party in March of 2008. Here's a clip.
